HEALTH SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) is an inherent value at IHI E&C. Priorities change; values don’t. Therefore, our HSE culture is consistent throughout our company wherever we operate worldwide. While commitment to HSE starts with senior management, all IHI E&C employees are actively involved in living and promoting HSE values every hour of every day.

HSE

The IHI E&C Health, Safety & Environment culture is based on our Think Zero Harm program and its five key principles:

  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Risk Management
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Relationships

Company-Wide Safety Programs

Our aim is to protect ourselves, our fellow employees and the environment from harm. We have procedures and rules in place to achieve this goal; however, we practice this way of life because it is the right thing to do, not because we are forced to.

Projects and jobs are important, but at the end of the day, all employees and project members should be able to return home safe and sound to their families. We adhere to the SENTIS ZIP™ (Zero Incident Process) Safety Program and our Personal Big5® (PB5), the five most important things that motivate each of us.

The objective of our Think Zero Harm program is to achieve consistent world-class HSE performance. We believe that all incidents can be prevented.

Industry-Wide Safety Practices

The HSE performance of our sub-contractors and suppliers is integral to our own HSE efforts. We evaluate and qualify contractors and suppliers to ensure that a single and comprehensive HSE culture governs each project safely and effectively.

HSE

IHI E&C integrate industry health safety & environment practices drawn from notable sources, such as:

  • The Construction Industry Institute
  • Houston Business Roundtable
  • Construction Users Roundtable
  • The National Safety Council
